Bruce Bateman, Sr. was born in North Carolina on March 20, 1910. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Private. He married Carlina Bateman. After his enlistment he worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy in Panama. Upon retirement he remained in Panama. He died on November 20, 1973 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery with wife, Carlina Bateman.
