For his leadership and valor, Brigadier General Brink was awarded the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the, the World War I Victory Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Brigadier General Brink was a veteran of World War I and World War II. During the Korean War he was the Chief of the U.S. Mission to French Indo-China. On June 24, 1952, he died of other causes at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
