Sergeant First Class Cummings was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 187th Airborne Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 29, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. The remains of Sgt. 1st Class Cummings have been recovered and identified. His name remains permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
