For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Di Rienzo was awarded the Bronze Star the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Di Rienzo was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on October 28, 2002 and identified on August 21, 2007. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
