For his leadership and valor, Colonel Driscoll was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the European Theater of Operations Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Colonel Driscoll was a decorated veteran of World War II serving as a Battalion Commander with the 16th Infantry Regiment during the landings at "Omaha Beach". During the Korean War, he was the U.S. Army Attache at Baghdad, Iraq where he died of poliomyelitis on June 7, 1952.
