Captain Edwards was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress with the 372th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing based at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. On October 25, 1951, while on a combat mission, his aircraft was attacked by enemy MiGs and he was killed on board.
