Sergeant First Class Ferguson was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on July 30, 1951 and returned to duty on August 5, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on January 12, 1952. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
