Master Sergeant Fleming was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on July 8, 1951 and returned to duty on July 29, 1951. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on July 6, 1953. He was presumed dead on July 7, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
