For his leadership and bravery, Master Sergeant Forehand was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes

Master Sergeant Forehand was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War after being wounded at Touchon, South Korea about 1/2 mile south of the 38th Parallel on March 25, 1951. He died of malnutrition at Camp Desoto, while being marched from Pyongyang to POW Camp 3, on October 4, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
