Master Sergeant Foster was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Master Sergeant Foster was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 343rd Bomber Squadron, 98th Bomber Wing. On October 24, 1951, while in formation for a bombing run, the aircraft was attacked by 40 to 70 MiGs and damaged. The crew bailed out over Wonsan Harbor near Triyom-do, North Korea. He was killed.
