For his leadership and valor, Sergeant First Class Galius was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" Device, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Sergeant First Class Galius was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was wounded near Kumchon, South Korea on September 24, 1950 and returned to duty later. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Ichon, South Korea on January 30, 1951.
