Private First Class McGuire was a member of Battery B, 503rd Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He contracted malaria and was evacuated to the 8076th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital at Miryang, South Korea where he died on September 17, 1950.
