LT Pillsbury's aircarft went down during a combat mission on November 1943. He was initially listed as Missing in Action. After the war, his aircraft was located and his remains were recovered and identified. His is buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. LT Pillsbury's name is permanently inscribed on the Walls of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery.
