2LT Ward was the co-pilot of B-26C Marauder struck by enemy forces while on a bombing mission. The aircraft crashed near Philippswieler, Germany. 2LT Ward's remains have been recovered and identified. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial.
