Sergeant Iyotte was a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 2, 1950 and returned to duty on September 21, 1950. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 9, 1951 and died while a prisoner on September 10, 1951. At the time, his remains were not immediately recovered. Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Sgt. Iyotte were accounted for in 2017. His name remains permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
