Sergeant Baylor was a light weapons infantryman with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 16, 1950 and returned to duty later that day. He was listed as Missing in Action when his battalion was overrun by two Chinese divisions at the "Camel's Head" near Unsan, North Korea on November 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on November 30, 2000 and identified on December 17, 2008. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
