Private First Class Nelson was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was wounded by a mortar explosion during a training exercise and evacuated to the 8209th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where he died on June 23, 1951. |
