Captain Coleman was a veteran of World War II. In Korea he was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 35th Fighter-Interceptor Group. On June 20, 1951, while on a combat mission, he was attacked by two MiGs. His aircraft lost a wing and crashed into the bay near Sinmi-do, Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 31, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
