WWII Navy veteran Lt. Robert Bedford explains at the Sicily-Rome Visitor’s Center how he provided naval support during the invasion of Sicily. Bedford entered the service in 1942, and fought in North Africa and Sicily, and at Normandy on D-Day. He served as commander of Flotilla 2 of 10 LCMs taking troops ashore during the invasion of Sicily and Normandy.
