New Interactive Timeline and Map Allows You to Explore the History of World War II

Experience the history of World War II through a new interactive timeline. View maps, watch videos, see photos and read about the events that shaped the war. This new visual interactive is the latest in digital initiatives released by ABMC.

It’s designed to allow users to view the key events of World War II across time or geographic location. Free to use via the ABMC website, it’s a tool for helping students or history buffs understand the history of World War II.
The interactive timeline also connects with the visual histories of the Normandy Campaign and the Battle of Pointe du Hoc, already available on ABMC’s website.

“What is especially significant about these interactive maps is they allow the user to place an individual memorialized at one of our sites such as Normandy American Cemetery within the context of the war,” said Tim Nosal, ABMC Director of Public Affairs. “This in turn allows you to understand the sacrifice of all those who served the allied cause in World War II.”

General John J. Pershing, the first chairman of ABMC made a promise to those families who lost loved ones overseas during World War I that “Time will not dim the glory of their deeds.” The new World War II timeline and map represents the continued efforts of ABMC to meet that promise.

In December 2012, ABMC released its first smartphone application for touring Pointe du Hoc. Built for both iPhone and Android devices, this free GPS-enabled application allows you to experience that battle of Pointe du Hoc.
