Posthumous Recipient of Medal of Honor Remembered at Honolulu Memorial

Command Chaplain Jon Brzek of the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps, Father Gary L. Secor, Vicar General of the Diocese of Honolulu, and ABMC Secretary Max Cleland joined at the Honolulu Memorial, located within the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, this weekend to honor Army Chaplain Emil Kapaun with a ceremony.

Posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in April 2013 for his actions during the Korean War, Kapaun’s remains were never recovered. His name on the Tablets of the Missing is now marked with gold leaf to indicate he received the Medal of Honor.
