Notes
Private First Class Brown was a member of Company D, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. While attacking enemy positions near Kasan, South Korea on September 5, 1950, he exposed himself to enemy fire on a 50 foot wall to deliver rifle fire on the assaulting enemy until his ammunition was exhausted. He threw his remaining grenades, then his used his entrenching tool as a weapon. He drove ten enemy soldiers from the wall until he was killed by the enemy.
