Hospital Corpsman First Class Parker was assigned to Marine Air Group 36, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division. On April 5, 1967, he was flying in a medical evacuation helicopter UH-1E "Huey" supporting Operation Desoto southeast of Nui Dang Hill, Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam when he was killed while aiding his fallen comrades. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
