Private Alderman was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. Although he was initially listed as Missing in Action, it was later determined he has been Killed in Action while fighting the enemy along the Kum River near Taejon, South Korea on July 16, 1950.
