Master Sergeant Baron was a member of the 24th Explosive Ordnance Bomb Disposal Detachment, U.S. Army. On December 16, 1953, he was converting a shell from a recoilless rifle to be used as a subcaliber training device at Kyongsong, Seoul, South Korea when it exploded killing him.
