Sergeant First Class Brown was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 3, 1950 and returned to duty on September 12, 1950. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Chongpyong, South Korea on April 25, 1951 and died while a prisoner on December 30, 1951.
