Private First Class Canavan was a member of Company A, 13th Engineer Combat Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He contracted Hemorrhagic Fever and was evacuated to the 8228th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) where he died on May 29, 1952.
