Sergeant First Class Coco was a member of Battery B, 674th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was listed as Killed in Action on June 23, 1953, when a C-119 transport enroute to Korea crashed in the ocean off Tsukishima Island, near Hiroshima, Japan. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
