Corporal Fort was a member of member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on November 30, 1950 and returned to duty on January 15, 1951. He was seriously wounded again in South Korea on February 12, 1951 and returned on April 8, 1951. He was taken Prisoner of War on May 18 1951 and died near the 38th Parallel from malnutrition and lack of medical attention on August 31, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
