Halhane Francis was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was a crew member of a PB5M Catalina patrol bomber with Flight Crew 10, Patrol Bomber Squadron 772. On November 12, 1952, his aircraft crashed into a mountain in Washington State, killing all on board.
