Private First Class Jackson was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Private First Class Jackson was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy near Masogu-ri, Korea on May 15, 1951 and returned to duty on June 27, 1951. He was Killed in Action fighting the enemy on Hill 633 near Sangyang-ni, North Korea on October 13, 1951.
