Cpl. Luberda was killed in an aircraft crash during combat operations on May 30, 1945. Initially listed as Missing in Action, the aircraft wreck was located after the war and his remains were recovered. The air crew was interred in a group burial in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Co. His name is permanently engraved on the Walls of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery.
