Private Major was a paratrooper with the 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. On September 1, 1951 he was critically injured in an automobile accident near Fort Campbell and died at the base hospital on September 9, 1951.
