Corporal Pahmeier was a Navy veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He had completed his tour and was returning to the United States for reassignment with the 6215th Army Support Unit. On July 1, 1951, he was on leave when he suffered a fatal fall at the Savoy Hotel in Seattle, Washington.
