First Lieutenant Scrivener was a member of the 19th Tactical Air Support Squadron. On March 17, 1971, he was the pilot of a Cessna Skymaster Observation Aircraft (O-2A) on a forward air controller mission over Laos, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
