SUMMARY:76th Anniversary of Allied Landings at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:On 22 January 2020\, at 10:45 a.m. (local time)\, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery will host a ceremony in remembrance of the 76th anniversary of the Allied Landings in Anzio and Nettuno\, Italy. \nThe ceremony will include a wreath laying and a concert by local students who will also share stories about some of the service members who lost their lives during the war and are buried at the cemetery. The program called Ricordare per non Dimenticare (Remember so you don’t forget) has been in place for more than a decade\, and is sponsored by Italian WWII veteran Antonio Taurelli\, who fought alongside American forces as a volunteer with the 82nd Airborne Division. To conclude the ceremony\, students will lay hundreds of red roses within the cemetery. \nLater that day at 3:00 p.m.\, cyclists from Pedalando Nella Storia (Pedaling through History) will be greeted at the cemetery to mark the completion of their ride in honor of this anniversary. \nAttendance for all events is free and open to the public.
