Sergeant Raymond was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. In Korea, he was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. His unit was heavily engaged with the enemy near Songuch-on, Korea on July 26, 1953. He rushed through a hail of gunfire to a nearby tank to call for friendly fire. On the way, he was killed by a burst from an enemy shell. |
