Captain Dischinger was a member of 68th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 6160th Aircraft Base Group. On June 3, 1951, he was the pilot of a F-84E Thunderjet fighter from the 524th Fighter Escort Squadron, 27th Fighter Escort Wing. While on a combat mission near Songhon, North Korea, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, burst into flames and crashed into a hill. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
