Locals and Americans gathered for a wreath laying in the chapel. This ceremony was followed by a second wreath laying ceremony in the civil cemetery of Belleau to honor their French counterparts who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I. The morning events ended with a moving ceremony honoring Sgt. Paul Jones Robinett . Robinett’s identification tag was recovered in France in 2010 by Alain Romelot. Exactly 100 years after the Great War ended, Robinett’s identification tag was given to his grandson.
