ABMC and the Smithsonian American Art Museum partner to release unique centennial book

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) has partnered with the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and created a unique book “Time Will Not Dim – ABMC A Century of Service, 1923 – 2023,” which will officially launch Oct. 24, 2023, through a special event at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, in Washington D.C.

ABMC Historian Ben Brands, who took part in creating this book, shares that “the goal was to bring these sites home to the American people as well as tell the story of the agency and the story of the people who work here.”

This project complements the recently released virtual 360s of ABMC cemeteries. Together with Time Will Not Dim, they provide anyone with the opportunity to experience our sites, online or through these pages, from the comfort of their home, and help ABMC share the legacy of those buried or memorialized at our sites with generations to come.

This centennial book “captures the beauty and power of ABMC sites,” says Brands. “I think it’s important for Americans to see this book and recognize the work that ABMC has done to preserve this memory.”

For 100 years, ABMC has ensured that the memories of those who fell abroad defending the U.S. and those they served with, never die. Our promise is unbroken, and our mission is timeless as we enter our second century. ABMC continues to stay true to the mission given by Gen. of the Armies John J. Pershing to ensure that, “Time will not dim the glory of their deeds.”

The official launch of Time Will Not Dim will take place at the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), Oct. 24, 2023, 3 p.m, in presence of:
