Corporal Laydon was a member of the 1st Airborne Ranger Company, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on February 17, 1951 and returned to duty on March 15, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on May 19, 1951.
