Private Olson was a member of Company B, 14th Engineer Combat Battalion, U.S. Army. He was a passenger in the rear of a truck and attempted to stand up. He was thrown off the truck and seriously injured. He was evacuated to the 44th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where he died on September 19, 1953.
