Petty Officer Beier was killed in an aircraft crash and initially listed as Missing in Action with an Administrative Date of Death as February 4, 1946. Following the war, the aircraft was located and he was identified. He is buried in Quincy National Cemetery, Quincy, IL. His name is permanently engraved on the Walls of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery.
