Staff Sergeant Guthrie a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the tail gunner of a B-26B Invader with the 8th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Wing based at Kunsan Air Force Base (K-8), Korea. On December 28, 1950, while enroute to the target on a night intruder mission, contact with aircraft was lost. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 31, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
