Captain Busch was a member of 389th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 366th Tactical Fighter Wing, Danang, South Vietnam. On June 8, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on and armed reconnaissance about 22 miles northeast of Dong Hoi, North Vietnam. The aircraft was hit by hostile fire and crashed. His remains were recovered on July 13, 1988 and identified on October 14, 1988. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
