Major Conlon was a member of 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron, Pleiku Air Base, South Vietnam. On March 4, 1966, he was the observer of a Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft (O-1G) on a cross country visual reconnaissance in South Vietnam. Radio contact was lost. His remains were recovered on April 18, 2006 and identified on April 24, 2006. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
