Herman Wilkinson, Jr. was born at Fort Totten, New York on December 16, 1939. On October 26, 1959, he enlisted for four years in the U.S. Navy as a seaman aboard the destroyer USS VESOLE (DDR-878) and served aboard ship during the Vietnam War. On December 21, 1977 he married Amalia Engri Arias Lopez and worked for the Panama Canal Commission for 32 years. After retirement he remained in Panama. On October 22, 2012, he died from a heart attack at the Centro Medico Paitilla and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery near his father.
