Ramon Asparren was recruited from Spain in 1910 as a rigger for the Panama Canal Company. He died on July 1, 1939 as a result of an accident during the repair of a lock in the canal and is buried at Corozal American Cemetery near his wife, Pilar M. Asparren *. They had five daughters, Juanita A. Young, Delores M. Coffy *, Mercedes Asparren, Armenia A. Metzger *, and Julie Asparren.
