Lloyd Vernon Cleaves was born in Lubec, Maine on January 30, 1897. He moved to the Clift Island, Maine and began Missionary work. Later, he moved to Panama where he continued his missionary work at an Adventist Mission in Cristobal, Canal Zone. He died on July 8, 1939 at the Gorgas Hospital, Ancon, Canal Zone and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
