The cemetery is within 44 miles of Brugge, Belgium and 22 miles of Gent, Belgium. The Visitor Center designed by Nicolas Kelemen Architecture, opened in 2017, and is located 175 miles north of Paris and 52 miles west of Brussels. Since its opening this nearly 2800-square-foot visitor center, has provided interpretive exhibits that incorporate personal stories, photographs, films, and interactive displays, to assist visitors with gaining a better understanding of the Ypres-Lys campaign that contributed to the Allied victory in Europe during World War I. Interactive displays in the visitor center include the testimonies of grave adopters and pictures of various buildings during World War I and today.
The cemetery is open daily to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except December 25 and January 1. It is open on host country holidays. When the cemetery is open to the public, a staff member is on duty in the visitor building to answer questions and escort relatives to grave and memorial sites. Please note, admission to the cemetery ends 15 minutes before closing time.
The cemetery lies on the southeast edge of the town of Waregem, Belgium, along the Lille-Gent Autoroute E-17.
Waregem may be reached by train from Brussels via Gent in approximately one hour; from Paris via Rijsel and Kortrijk in about five hours, and via Brussels and Gent in about five and a half hours.
Paris is about 175 miles south of the cemetery, and Brussels is located about 50 miles east of the cemetery.
